"DOOR STOPPERS"

I love life simply because it is truly unpredictable, isn't it? Every day brings something new, whether good or bad. As usual life constantly throws a few things my way and lately, I've been facing a mix of emotions as I approach the one-year mark without my dad. Grieving is a process that takes time and there are still days I wonder what his advice would be regarding certain situations and things because my papa always had the right words, and the solution to most of my problems.
I like to think of certain things as "door stoppers," and you are probably wondering why. Door stoppers either stop a door from closing or opening, there are stoppers to keep a door shut and those to keep them open wide. Recently, I've been noticing a fair share of door stoppers in my life. Some of them are individuals, while others are simply circumstances and objects that seem to exist solely to hold me back.
I enjoy confronting challenges and issues directly, which is why I'm often the first to take responsibility and seek solutions. However, have you encountered individuals who are stubbornly set in their ways, refusing to let go of negativity or resolve a situation no matter how hard you try? I certainly have! Lately, it feels like I'm encountering these types of people everywhere I go, and I see them as obstacles preventing progress. I believe in closing the door on a situation rather than leaving it open unnecessarily. I tend to not do well with people who are resistant to change. These individuals seem to be stuck in their ways and are unwilling to adapt or consider alternative perspectives. It can be frustrating and disheartening when I invest time and energy into resolving issues or addressing negativity, only to be met with resistance. And sadly, it is becoming increasingly common in various aspects of my life. Whether it's in the workplace, social circles, or even within my own family, there are individuals who seem to act as "door stoppers," to hinder progress, success or positive change.
To be honest, there are times when, I feel like throwing in the towel, slamming the door shut, and leaving certain situations or problems unresolved. However, in those moments, I find myself grappling with my faith. Although it may be simpler to walk away from certain individuals or circumstances, I often find myself having a WWJD moment. As most of you know, most of my comfort and peace is found in scripture, and recently during devotion I came across Jeremiah 1:19 which says " They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the LORD, “to deliver you.” It is reassuring to know that even when faced with opposition, we are not alone. The verse states, "They may fight against you, but they will not overcome you." These words serve as a powerful reminder that no matter how fierce the battles we encounter, we have the strength and divine presence to emerge victorious.
The declaration of the LORD, "For I am with you," resonates deeply within me, instilling a sense of courage and fortitude. It signifies that God is not a distant observer but an active participant in our lives, ready to come to our aid when we need rescuing. This promise of divine intervention offers a profound sense of comfort, knowing that we are never abandoned or left to face our struggles alone. This verse reminded me that I am not defined by the challenges I face, but rather by the unwavering support and guidance I receive from God. It encourages me to persevere, knowing that the battles I encounter are not insurmountable, for God's presence is a source of strength that empowers me to overcome any adversity.
There isn't a door too heavy or too big for the Lord to open, and no door can stay closed when God decides it's time to open up. When God determines that it is the right moment to open a door, nothing can prevent it from happening. God's will and plans cannot be hindered or delayed by any external force or circumstance (door stoppers). If you are feeling trapped by closed doors that won't open or doors, you need to stay closed but won't stay closed in your life. Let this encourage you to trust in God's power and timing, knowing that He is capable of opening doors that seem impossible to open, and closing doors that seem impossible to close. Remind yourself that God is in control and has the ability to bring about positive change and opportunities in your life.
Simply surrender to God's will!
