Hi, I’m Sergeline Michel-Rivas —writer, creator, advocate, and storyteller. I'm the proud owner of Life in Writing (LIW), founder of the Michel Hands and Heart Organization, and host of the Life of an Immigrant Girl podcast.

So, what drives me? The answer is simple: writing and purpose. LIW was born from my love of storytelling, sharing my passions, my experiences, and the voices of others who often go unheard. Writing has always been my outlet, my healing, and my way of connecting with the world. What started as a small passion project has grown into a platform filled with meaning, truth, and a community that continues to inspire me every day.

But LIW isn’t just a blog. It’s a reflection of who I am and what I believe in.

Here, you’ll also find the heart of my nonprofit work—Michel Hands and Heart Organization, which focuses on raising awareness and taking action against xenophobia, racism, bullying, and the abuse of orphans. Through this initiative, we also run a need-based scholarship program to support students in the Caribbean and underdeveloped countries as they begin their high school or college journeys.

I invite you to explore the site, dive into the stories, and maybe even discover what fuels you. Whether you’re here for creative inspiration, social impact, or personal connection.

Welcome I’m so glad you’re here!
