Complete Reject (Spoken Word)

ree

Do you feel the beat of the drums

Or is that my heart beating because it’s nearing numb.

Do you hear the waters fall

Or is that the tears coming down my cheeks as my skin crawls.

Have you seen blood rivers run

Or is that the broken parts of me exposing as I am shunned.

“I’m the problem, not you!” He wrote

Isolated, rejected and used

Left as dead meat, broken and bruised

It felt like every dream was shattered and all hope lost

Because this girl could not pay the cost!

But while he ranted and spoke of self pity

And the selfish reasons for this naivety

It only burnt my purity!

For this poison had stirred my heart of gold

Because of the strength of this anger I hold

How could someone be so cruel to himself?

Wrapped in lack of passion and goals

So unwelcoming of love and digging his own hole

“I’m sorry if I hurt you!” He continued

Wait! You’re sorry, if?

Is it ok if I just laughed because this is so selfish

It’s funny how you make issues of things I never brought up

When all I’ve done was try to build you up

May I just commend you for the efforts

And a job well done at destroying your own comfort

“You’re just too good for me!”

You’re right I am, most definitely a catch

One you’ll have a hard time to find or build from scratch

I can reassure you that the hurt that I wheel

Is not the hurt that you meant for me to feel

It is sad that you think so low of yourself

Knocking on loneliness’ doors without him doing it himself

I couldn’t imagine you wrapped in such blanket

But I must say thank you for helping me dodge this bullet

Do you feel the wind as it blows

Or is that peace making itself known

Do you hear the birds as they sing

Or is that my mind feeling free as it all sinks in

Have you seen a broken heart?

One not because of love but a soul lost
